Indigestion describes a generally feeling of discomfort in the stomach or bowel. Symptoms such as bloating, heartburn or nausea are also associated with indigestion and are usually only suffered for a short period after eating too much of the wrong kind of food or from stress or anxiety. Occasionally, these symptoms can signify another reason and if experienced for a longer period should be described to a medical professional.
The best starting point for a herbal remedy for indigestion is a tea made from either Chamomile, Meadowsweet or Peppermint, to soothe and relax the digestive system. Also a teaspoon of Slippery Elm powder in a cupful of water, or pure tablets, with one or more meals, can help soothe the stomach.
